旧小樽倉庫

建築年：明治23（1890）年〜27（1894）年

構造：（倉庫）木骨石造、（事務所）木骨煉瓦造

色内地先の埋め立て直後に建てられた営業用倉庫のひとつ。
正面右手の倉庫が最初の建設で、増築を重ね2つの中庭を囲む大倉庫となりました。寄棟の瓦屋根に鯱をのせた和洋折衷のデザインで煉瓦造の事務所を中心に左右対称に展開し、全体として優雅な美しさをみせています。北側を市博物館、南側を運河プラザに活用、公開されています。

The Former Otaru Warehouse

One of the first commercial use warehouses built in the Ironai district immediately after the reclamation of the area. While the original construction consisted of only the front right side of the building, further additions enclosed two courtyards to create a warehouse of truly grand proportions. With a design combining Japanese & Western styles, the building’s hipped tile roof supports a fabulous mythical carp or shachihoko and spreads out symmetrically from the central office, affording an overall elegant beauty.
