旧小樽区公会堂/旧岡崎家能舞台

建築年：<公会堂>明治44（1911）年　<旧岡崎家能舞台>大正15（1926）年

構築年：木造

旧小樽区公会堂/この建物は、皇太子（後の大正天皇）の本道行啓に際し、実業家藤山要吉が、その宿泊所として建築し、その後小樽区に寄贈されました。道内では珍しい単層、純日本風の建物で、正面玄関の蟇股には皇室ゆかりの菊の模様が浮彫りにされています。昭和36（1961）年、市民会館建設により、この地に移築されました。

旧岡崎家能舞台/この建物は、実業家岡崎謙が、入船町の自宅中庭に建てたもので、後に市に寄贈され、公会堂に隣接して移築されました。檜の舞台をはじめ要所に佐渡産神代杉が用いられ、格式にのっとった能舞台です。

The Former Otaru District Auditorium and Former Okazaki Family Noh Stage

The Former Otaru District Auditorium: In order to house the Crown Prince Taisho on the occasion of a royal visit to Hokkaido, Otaru businessman Yokichi Fujiyama had this building erected and later donated it to the city where it was used as the former Otaru District Auditorium. A rarity in Hokkaido, the curved wooden beam or kaerumata at the entrance of this completely Japanese-style building features the chrysanthemum emblem of the imperial household. It was moved to its present location when the Otaru Citizens’ Hall was built in 1961.

The Former Okazaki Family Noh Stage: The former Okazaki family Noh stage was originally located in the courtyard of the Irifune-cho residence of Ken Okazaki, a local businessman. It was later donated to the city and placed adjacent to the Otaru District Auditorium. This formal Noh stage utilizes ancient cedar from Sado and cypress.
