水天宮本殿、拝殿

建築年：大正8（1919）年

構造：木造

小樽の水天宮は、安政6（1859）年、現在のところに建立されています。

現在の社殿は、大正8（1919）年に市内の多くの社寺を手がけた伊久治三郎によって建てられています。

本殿、中殿、拝殿が連結する形式の権現造りで、屋根は銅板葺きです。本殿は流造り、拝殿は入母屋造りの屋根で、建築当初の姿を保っています。

境内からは小樽港を一望でき、多くの市民に愛される建物といえます。

Otaru's original Suitengu Shrine was built on its current location in 1859. The present Shrine building was constructed in 1919 by Saburo Ikuji, a carpenter who had a hand in the construction of many shrines and temples throughout Otaru. The main building, central building and front shrine are connected in a gongen style with a copper sheet tile roof. The roof on the main shrine building has a sloping curve while that of the front shrine is a hipped or irimoya type , with both retaining their original form. The shrine premises afford a sweeping view of the harbor and are much loved by the people of Otaru.
