この建物は、小樽経済の絶頂期に建設され、三菱、第一各銀行小樽支店と共に北のウォール街の交差点を飾っています。銀行に貸事務所を併設する当時の道内を代表する大ビル建設で、銀行ホールは2階までの吹き抜けで、6本の古典的円柱がカウンターに沿って立ち、光を受けた様は圧巻です、初期鉄筋コンクリート造建築の道内主要遺構でもあります。

　Constructed during the height of the Otaru economy, this building, along with the Otaru branches of both Mitsubishi Bank and Dai Ichi Bank made up the intersection of Hokkaido's "Wall Street of the North". This is a representative example of Hokkaido large-scale office architecture combining banks and rental offices. The bank hall features a two-story high vaulted ceiling , highlighted by six pillars built in a classic syle along the counter and the sight of the room bathed in light is truly a masterpiece.Additionally, the building is one of the main remnants of early reinforced concrete structures in Hokkaido.
