旧通信電設ビル
建築年：昭和8（1933）年
構造：鉄筋コンクリート
石造倉庫が軒を連ねていた小樽運河沿いに、モダンな鉄筋コンクリートのビルディングとして建ちました。昭和初期の建築が装飾に富んでいたことを知るよい例です。建物の正面デザインは、すべて左右対称になっていて、窓の縦枠はアーチを描き、4階までつながっています。玄関周りは花崗岩で飾り、出入口の欄間は幾何学模様を描いています。玄関の両脇に立つ半円の柱に外灯が組み込まれています。

The Former Tsushin Densetsu Hama Building

A modern reinforced structure among the stone warehouses lining the Otaru Canal, this building is a good example of the highly ornamental constructions of the early Showa period. The design of the building’s facade is symmetrically balanced on the left and right, with arched vertical window frames extending to the fourth floor. The entrance is outlined in granite, with a geometrical design on the transom above the doorway and featuring outdoor lamps built into semicircular pillars on either side.
