小樽市指定歴史的建造物

旧浪華倉庫

建築年：大正（1925）年

構造：木骨石造

市内に現存する木骨石造の倉庫の中でも比較的大規模な建物です。小屋組は、クイーンポストトラス（対束(ついづか) 小屋組）と呼ばれる洋風の構造で、屋根には当時採光用として設置された円形の小屋根があります。荷物を搬出入する開口部は、海側の壁面以外に運河側にも配置され、艀(はしけ)へ荷積みする利便さが図られています。運河の完成の2年後に建てられたこの建物は、運河の盛衰を見守りその歴史を今に伝える倉庫建築のひとつです。

The Former Naniwa Warehouse

The Former Naniwa Warehouse is one of the largest wood framed stone constructed warehouses still remaining in Otaru. The roof frame was done in a Western-style known as queen post truss, while the roof itself featured a small round roof installed at the time to incorporate natural light. There were entrances for delivering and shippinf merchandise both facing the ocean and facing the canal to make barge loading and unloading easier. This structure, which was built two years after the canal was completed, presided over the canal’s rise and fall, and today stands as a historic warehouse that conveys the important seafaring heritage of Otaru.
