旧小堀商店

建築年：昭和7（1932）年

構造：木骨鉄網コンクリート造

この建物は、小堀商店の店舗として、市内では古くから市街地が形成された山ノ上町（現在の住吉町）に建てられました。外壁は木造に鉄網を張り、モルタルを厚く塗った木骨鉄網コンクリート造と呼ばれる堅牢な造りで、黒壁が一層重厚さを感じさせます。防火シャッターや二重窓、全館にスチーム暖房を備え、当時の優れた設備を整えていました。母屋の背面には漆喰塗りの蔵が付属しています。なお創建は昭和7年以前の可能性もあります。

Structure:Reinforced Concrete on Wooden Framing

This building was constructed in the city's old downtown district of Yamanoue-cho (presently Sumiyoshi-cho) as a retail outlet for the Kobori Store. It features a solid structure of reinforced concrete on wooden framing with steel meshwork overlaid on the wooden frame of the outer wall, which is also covered in a thick layer of mortar. The black walls exude  a sense of solidness and add to the strength of  the building. The building is appointed with state-of-the-art features at that time, including fire proof shutters and double-paned windows, and is steam-heated throughout. Attached to the back of the main building is a warehouse with plastered walls. There is a possibility that the building was constructed earlier than 1932.
