龍徳寺本堂

建築年：明治9（1876）年

構造：木造

龍徳寺本堂は、市内で最古の寺院本堂です。寺院設立の発願は、安政4（1857）年、函館の高龍寺18世和尚によります。創設の地は信香町、次いで若松、さらに現在地へと移転しました。現本堂は、棟梁北見八百蔵（佐渡）、脇棟梁古山仁三郎（新潟）によって建てられました。屋根は入母屋造り、平入りでほぼ旧態を残しています。本堂左手の金比羅殿（棟梁加藤忠五郎）と鐘楼は、明治22年の創建です。

Ryutokuji Temple Main Building

The Ryutokuji Temple’s main building is the city’s oldest, with the first prayers marking the temple’s founding being given by the 18th head priest of the Kouryuji Temple of Hakodate in 1857. Originally established in Nobuka-cho, the temple was moved temporarily to Wkamatsu and finally to its current location. Master carpenters Yaozo Kitami, a native of Sado and Jinsaburo Furuyama of Niigata directed the construction. The roof featured a hipped or irimoya structure that remains mostly intact. The Konpira pavilion, led by master craftman Chugoro Kato and bell tower to the left of the main building were constructed in 1889.
