祝津は、北海道の初期漁村集落の様子を伝える貴重な地区です。海岸沿いに鰊漁家の住宅、番屋、倉庫などが建ち並び、丘には神社があります。旧白鳥家番屋は主人と漁夫の住居部分が大屋根で一体になっています。主人のすまいには、床の間や欄間を設け和風住宅の特徴を示します。漁夫の寝床は、吹き抜けに巡らされていました。平成7（1995）年、料理店に再利用されています。

Providing a glimpse of early Hokkaido fishing communities, the Shukutsu district is an important area. The residences of herring fishermen, fishermen's quarters and warehouses line the coast and a Shinto shrine stands on the hill. The former Shiratori fishermen's quarters consist of two living sections under one large roof - one for the master and one for the fishermen. The master's accommodation features an alcove and fanlights characteristic of Japanese-Style homes while the fishermen's sleeping arrangements were in the loft around the upper part of the central room of their quarters. Since 1995, the building has been used as a restaurant.
