旧島谷倉庫

建築年：明治25（1892）年

構造：木骨石造

木骨石造の特徴をよく伝える小さな倉庫です。室内側に木で骨組みを造り外壁に石を積む構造です。木と石は「かすがい」（鋼の両端を曲げ、先を尖らせたもの）でつないでいます。この構造の建物は、小樽市内に約350棟あることが平成4（1992）年の調査で確認されています。

The characteristic traits of wooden framed stone construction come across well in this small warehouse. A wooden structure comprises the inside, while the outer walls are constructed of piled stone, with wood and stone joined together by kasugai clamps sharpened on both ends. A survey carried out in 1992 confirmed that nearly 350 buildings throughout Otaru feature this same building structure.
