旧光亭

もとは東京信濃町の料亭「光亭」の小樽店として、昭和１２年に建てられました。主屋の東側に３つの棟を配置し、中央の棟には「茶室」があります。主屋は入母屋妻入りで、外壁を押縁下見板とした和風の外観が特徴です。２階の大広間には、座敷飾の床、付書院、地袋棚を備え、それと対面して舞台となる檜の板の間が設けられています。市内に残された本格的な数寄屋建築の料亭として貴重な建物です

This building was constructed in 1937 as the Otaru branch of Japanese restaurant Koutei from Shinano-machi in Tokyo. To the east of the main building are three additional buildings, with the one at center containing a tearoom. The main building features a Tsuma-iri gable entry, Irimoya-style roof, and molded clapboarding on exterior walls, providing the exterior with a uniquely Japanese design aesthetic. The reception hall on the second floor has a traditional alcove, desk, and a low cabinet. Directly opposite the alcove is a stage made of cypress wood. This restaurant building is preserved as an important cultural heritage of Otaru City because of its authentic Sukiya-style design.
