旧板谷邸

建築年：大正15（1926）年〜昭和2（1927）年

構造：（母屋）木造、（蔵）石造

 

この建物は、海運業などで財をなした板谷宮吉の邸宅でした。
東雲町の高台にあり、現在は、和風の母屋とその北側に続く洋館、それに背面の石蔵が残されています。木造モルタル塗りの洋館には、銅板で葺いたマンサード屋根をのせ、堂々とした雰囲気を醸し出しています。

The Former Itaya Residence

This building was the home of Miyakichi Itaya, a local shipping magnate. Located in the highlands of Shinonomecho, the house features a Japanese-style main building with a Western-style annex on the north side that further leads to a stone storehouse. As well, the character of the time of the building's construction is well preserved throughout. Atop the wooden frame stuccoed western-style annex, a mansard roof tiled with sheet copper gives off a magnificent atmosphere. At one time it was feared that the building would be demolished, but thanks to the efforts of local residents, it has been transformed into a commercial space.
